American Airlines pilots reported seeing “long cylindrical objects” flying over the plane

An American Airlines pilot reported that when the plane flew over New Mexico, he saw “a long cylindrical object” strikingly close to the plane.
The FBI said it was aware of the incident, which occurred on a flight from Cincinnati to Phoenix on Sunday.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the pilot called the air traffic control department shortly after noon local time to report seeing the object.
“Do you have any goals here?” The pilot can be heard asking in the radio transmission. “We just passed something above our heads-I don’t want to say that-it looks like a long cylindrical object.”
The pilot added: “It almost looks like a cruise missile type thing. It moves very fast and flies over our heads.”
The FAA stated in a statement that air traffic controllers “did not see any objects in the area within their radar range.”
American Airlines confirmed that the radio call came from one of its flights, but postponed further questions to the FBI.
The airline said: “After reporting to our crew and receiving other information, we can confirm that this radio transmission came from American Airlines Flight 2292 on February 21.”
