How to choose pneumatic cylinder?

1) Selection of Pneumatic cylinder:

It is recommended to choose a standard air cylinder if not, then consider designing it yourself.

Knowledge about aluminum air cylinder(Made by Aluminum Cylinder Tube) selection:

(1) Type of pneumatic cylinder:

According to the working requirements and conditions, the correct type of cylinder is selected. Heat-resistant cylinders should be used in high temperature environments. In a corrosive environment, a corrosion-resistant cylinder is required. In harsh environments such as dust, a dust cover must be installed on the extension end of the piston rod. When pollution-free is required, oil-free or oil-free lubrication cylinders should be selected.

(2) Installation method:

Determined according to factors such as installation location, purpose of use, etc.

The installation forms are: basic type, foot type, rod side flange type, rodless side flange type, single earring type, double earring type, rod side trunnion type, rodless side trunnion type, central trunnion type.

In general, a fixed cylinder is used. Rotary air cylinders should be used when continuous rotation with the working mechanism (such as lathes, grinders, etc.) is required. When the piston rod is required to move in an arc in addition to linear motion, shaft pin pneumatic cylinders are used. When there are special requirements, the corresponding special air cylinder should be selected.

(3) The stroke of the piston rod:

is related to the use occasion and the stroke of the mechanism, but generally the full stroke is not used to prevent the piston and the cylinder head from colliding. If it is used for clamping mechanism, etc., a margin of 10~20mm should be added according to the calculated stroke. The standard stroke should be selected as far as possible to ensure the delivery speed and reduce the cost.

(4) The magnitude of the force:

The thrust and pulling force output by the cylinder are determined according to the size of the load force. Generally, the force of the cylinder required by the theoretical equilibrium condition of the external load is multiplied by the coefficient 1.5~2.0, so that the output force of the cylinder has a little margin. If the cylinder diameter is too small, the output power is not enough, but the cylinder diameter is too large, making the equipment bulky, increasing the cost, increasing air consumption, and wasting energy. In the fixture design, the force expansion mechanism should be used as much as possible to reduce the external size of the cylinder.

(5) Buffer form:

According to the needs of the application, select the cushioning form of the cylinder. Cylinder buffer forms are divided into: no buffer, rubber buffer, air buffer, hydraulic buffer.

(6) The movement speed of the piston:

mainly depends on the input compressed air flow rate of the cylinder, the size of the cylinder’s intake and exhaust ports and the inner diameter of the pipe. It is required that high-speed movement should take a large value. The cylinder movement speed is generally 50~1000mm/s. For high-speed cylinders, you should choose the intake pipe of the large inner channel; for load changes, in order to obtain a slow and stable running speed, you can choose a throttle device or a gas-liquid damping cylinder, which is easier to achieve speed control. . When selecting the throttle valve to control the cylinder speed, please pay attention: when the horizontally installed cylinder pushes the load, it is recommended to use the exhaust throttle speed regulation; when the vertically installed cylinder lifts the load, it is recommended to use the intake throttle speed regulation; the stroke movement is required to be stable When avoiding impact, a cylinder with a buffer device should be used.

(7) Magnetic switch:

The magnetic switch installed on the cylinder is mainly used for position detection. It should be noted that the built-in magnetic ring of the cylinder is a prerequisite for using the magnetic switch. The installation forms of the magnetic switch are: steel belt installation, track installation, pull rod installation, and real connection installation.
