On Saturday, a compressed air cylinder in Sao Paulo exploded and two men were injured

On Saturday, in Sao Paulo, two men were injured after the metal pipe they recovered containing compressed gas exploded. One of them was seriously injured.
At about 11:30 in the morning, the St. Paul Fire Department received a call from the 1400 block of Iglehart Avenue in Snelling Hamline. The caller believed that the propane tank had exploded.
Firemen rushed to the scene and found that there was no fire. They discovered that these people were cutting a metal cylinder filled with some kind of compressed gas, but not propane, when it exploded.
“The top of the cylinder they are cutting is actually a block and a half away, all the way to Marshall,” said Greg Durren, the agency’s acting deputy. “According to witnesses, they heard the explosion a few blocks away.”
Durham said that both were injured, one more serious than the other. They were taken to the district hospital and their condition is currently unknown. Both were conscious and able to talk to medical staff.
He said there was some damage to the corrugated metal side of the building, but the structure was not damaged. These people have been working outside the building.
