Precautions when using cylinders

There are many components of pneumatic components, among which the cylinder is a widely used one. In order to improve its utilization rate, let’s take a detailed look at the places that should be paid attention to when using this product.

When using the cylinder, the air quality requirements are very high. Clean and dry compressed air should be used. The air should not contain organic solvents, synthetic oil, salt, and corrosive gases, etc., to prevent the cylinder and valve from malfunctioning.

Before installing pneumatic components, the inside of the cylinder tube should be fully flushed, and do not bring dust, chips, sealing belt fragments and other impurities into the cylinder valve. In places with a lot of dust, water droplets and oil droplets, the rod side should be equipped with a telescopic protective cover, and it should not be twisted during installation. Where a telescopic protective sleeve cannot be used, a cylinder with a strong dustproof ring or a waterproof cylinder should be used.

Standard cylinders must not be used in corrosive mists or in mists that cause sealing rings to swell. The oil-lubricated cylinder should be equipped with a lubricator with a reasonable flow rate, and the cylinder should not be lubricated with oil. Because the cylinder is pre-filled with grease, it can be used for a long time. This kind of cylinder can also be used for oil, but once oil is supplied, it must not be stopped, because the pre-lubricating grease may have been flushed out, and the cylinder will not operate properly if oil is not supplied.

At the installation site of the pneumatic component cylinder, it is necessary to prevent the drilling chips from mixing in from the air inlet of the cylinder. The cylinder cannot be used as a gas-liquid combined cylinder to prevent oil leakage. The sliding parts of the cylinder barrel and the piston rod must not be damaged to prevent air leakage caused by poor cylinder action and damage to the piston rod sealing ring. Appropriate maintenance and adjustment space should be reserved at the buffer valve, and appropriate installation and adjustment space should be reserved for magnetic switches, etc. If the cylinder is not used for a long time, it should be operated once a month and oiled to prevent rust.
